SAFIYA TORMO
M.S. Marital and Family Therapy
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Registered Play Therapist (RPT)
Welcome!
I’m Safiya, a therapist who believes that healing is not just about managing symptoms, but restoring connection: to self, to others, to your body, and to the life you long to live.
I started Holistic Child and Family Therapy because I saw how traditional therapy can sometimes miss the full picture. I witnessed children being labeled, parents blamed, and families left feeling overwhelmed and alone.
I knew there had to be a more compassionate, embodied, and systemic way to help.
I knew we needed a “whole” approach to healing: body, mind and spirit. It’s all connected.
As a holistic therapist I often partner with other professionals to offer comprehensive care.

Treatment Methods and Specialties
Trauma Informed Care
I approach therapy through a trauma lens — asking “What happened to you?” instead of “What’s wrong with you?” I create a safe space built on trust, collaboration, and cultural respect so healing can begin.
EMDR + Play Therapy
By blending EMDR with play therapy, I support children and teens in healing through both movement and imagination — creating powerful, age-appropriate ways to reprocess trauma.
EMDR
EMDR helps you process painful memories without reliving them. It activates the brain’s natural healing while gently reducing the emotional charge of trauma, anxiety, or depression.
Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP)
I work with children (birth to five) and their caregivers to strengthen relationships after stress or trauma. CPP supports healing through connection, attachment, and honoring each family’s story.
Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT)
IPT helps teens and adults improve relationships and communication. I use this approach to support clients in getting their emotional needs met in healthy, adaptive ways.
Play Therapy
Children process through play the way adults do through talking. I use play, art, and sand tray therapy to help children express big feelings in ways that feel safe and natural to them.
Trauma-Informed Yoga
Trauma-informed yoga brings healing into the body, not just the mind. It’s a gentle, consent-based practice that helps release stress and reconnect you to a sense of safety and self.
